The Origin
Human Design emerged in 1987 when Ra Uru Hu received an 8-day transmission in Ibiza, Spain. The system synthesizes astrology, the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching, the Kabbalah Tree of Life, the Hindu-Brahmin chakra system, and quantum physics into a single unified map of the human energetic design.
Strategy & Authority
These are the two most important elements in Human Design. Strategy tells you HOW to engage with life (when to initiate, wait, or inform). Authority tells you HOW to make decisions (gut response, emotional wave, splenic whisper, etc.). Together, they are your inner navigation system.
The Bodygraph
The Human Design bodygraph displays your 9 energy centers — like an evolved version of the chakra system. Defined (colored) centers have consistent, reliable energy. Undefined (open) centers amplify and reflect the energy of those around you. Each center governs a different domain of life.
The Experiment
Human Design is not a belief system — it's an experiment. You are invited to test your strategy and authority for yourself over time and notice the difference in your life. Do I need my exact birth time?
Birth time significantly improves accuracy for your Authority, Profile, and which specific gates are activated in your design. If you don't have your exact time, the reading will still give you your Type, Strategy, and an approximate Profile — but for a complete and accurate chart, your birth time is important.
Can two people with the same birthday have different designs?
Yes — birth time and birth location both affect your Human Design chart. Your exact gate activations, Profile, and Authority can differ even from someone born on the same day.
How is Human Design different from astrology?
While both use your birth data, astrology primarily maps planetary positions to personality traits and life themes. Human Design goes further — it maps those planetary positions to specific I Ching hexagram gates and channels in the bodygraph, revealing the mechanics of your energy system: how to make decisions, how to engage with life, and which energy centers you have consistent access to.
What does 'defined' vs 'open' mean?
A defined center (shown in color on the bodygraph) has consistent, reliable energy — it's a fixed part of your personality. An open center (white) does not generate its own energy; instead it amplifies and reflects the energy of the defined centers of people around you. Open centers are not weaknesses — they are sources of wisdom and adaptability.
